LONG BEACH - An autopsy was pending today on a 53-year-old Long Beach man believed to have suffered a heart attack before crashing pickup truck in Ventura County, killing his wife, an 11-year-old son and a family friend.

Phet Chansy, 53, who had a history of heart disease, crashed into tree alongside the northbound Ventura (101) Freeway near La Conchita about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol and a spokesman for the Ventura County Medical Examiner.

Chansy, his wife, Holly Hamm, 40, and their 11-year-old son Eric Chansy, were declared dead at the scene of the wreck, and family friend Monica Sara Sang, 45, died at a hospital, authorities said.

A 13-year-old son survived the accident with what the CHP called moderate injuries.
