Alec Baldwin running for mayor of NYC?

Alec Baldwin may be throwing his hat into the political ring. He has two things working in his favor in his bid for mayor of New York: 1) His 30 Rock contract is up this season and 2) Potential rival, scandal-plagued Rep. Anthony Weiner, is almost certainly out of the race now.

"I wouldn't rule it out," Baldwin's rep tells The Hollywood Reporter about the actor's ambitions.

Baldwin, a democrat, has been vocal over the years about running for office someday. "I do believe that people want to believe that someone who deeply cares about the middle class ? would like to seek public office," he told Eliot Spitzer in January.
