NBC renews 'Chuck' for final season

The speculation was true: NBC has renewed Chuck, the low-rated spy dramedy, for a short (13-episode) and final fifth season, the network said Friday.

The show ranked first in USA TODAY's Save Our Shows poll. Not so lucky: Spinoff Law & Order: Los Angeles, after a retooling didn't click, and as expected, conspiracy thriller The Event and comedy Outsourced. All are expected to be dropped.

The network has picked up eleven new series for fall and midseason and will announce its schedule Sunday.
