Missing Palmdale motorcyclist found dead

PALMDALE - A 43-year-old Palmdale man who had been missing for a day was found dead in the San Gabriel Mountains, where his motorcycle apparently ran off a twisting highway, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The family of Thomas Dale Koby reported him missing about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. That prompted a ground and air search Thursday, and the CHP found the crashed bike and body at about 12:25 p.m. Friday.

The CHP said Koby had been going south on Angeles Forest Highway, south of Sierra Highway.

Investigators said his 2005 Kawasaki drifted off the road, Koby was ejected and he suffered fatal injuries.
