Seventh Street connector bridge into Long Beach to close for a year starting tonight

LONG BEACH - The Seventh Street connector bridge from the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway and the westbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway into Long Beach will close for a year starting Monday night, authorities said today.

The bridge will close at 10 p.m. Monday, and is expected to remain closed until April of 2012, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Detours onto surface streets will be required at different times, with updates posted on the web at www.octa.net/westcounty or www.facebook.com/WCCProjectInfo, or by calling 800-724-0353.

The bridge closure is part of the West County Connectors Project, which was initiated by the Orange County Transportation Authority and Caltrans to link carpool lanes on the 405 Freeway with those on the 22 and San Gabriel River (605) freeways.

The $277 million project affects the Garden Grove, Westminster, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Long Beach and Rossmoor areas.
