Jeremy Renner Gears Up for "The Bourne Legacy"

There's been buzz surrounding him and the possible role for months, now Universal has stepped up to officially name Jeremy Renner as the star of "The Bourne Legacy."

According to Deadline, the "Hurt Locker" actor is expected to "sign on quickly" to play a brand new character in the latest installment of the spy saga.

The two-time Oscar nominee will reportedly take the lead as an operative from a covert government program that's even more deadly and dangerous than the brainwashing program that developed Jason Bourne.

Renner, who has been high on the list of rumored candidates for some time now, apparently edged out his competition after eight long weeks of screen testing by producers.
