The other doctors are focused on treating a hoarder, but House's attention is on Thirteen ? and how she got where she was.
?You know that proverbial warning about seeing sausage made? The same thing generally goes for seeing shows remade in front of your eyes, which is what happens in cringe-inducing fashion on a double run of Law & Order: Los Angeles (NBC, 9 ET/PT).
Having ordered the show before it was cast, NBC now makes us watch as it corrects the show's casting mistake on-air ? which means removing Skeet Ulrich's Detective Winter and shifting Alfred Molina's Morales from district attorney to cop.
To do so, a franchise built on a near-documentary approach to realism has to go to such ludicrous melodramatic lengths, they threaten to tear the fabric of the series.
The shift still leaves a show that is less well cast ? and feels less authentic ? than the New York classic it replaced.
