Michael Lohan has unveiled his new girlfriend, a woman known only as Bernadette, posting a number of photos of them together on twitter.

The patriarch posted a picture of him and the brunette, called Bernadette, kissing in Florida, with a caption which read "U r amazing (sic)".

Another picture shows him with the heavily tanned beauty - who appears to be younger than him - wearing a tight black dress. A third photo, of her smoking on a deck, is tagged "Best view in Ft. Lauderdale (sic)."

A final photo shows Bernadette wearing a different outfit and sunglasses as they settle down to a meal.

Speaking about his new romance, Michael told RadarOnline.com: "Bernadette is a nurse who I met at the beach in Florida. I'm here with her now, but after I get back to Los Angeles, she's coming up to New York with me. We've been together day and night, every day."

The new romance for Michael - father of actress Lindsay Lohan and her three siblings with his ex-wife Dina - comes a week after he was charged with misdemeanour domestic violence following an incident when he was alleged to have attacked his ex-fiancee, journalist Kate Major, at an apartment in West Hollywood.

District Attorney's spokesperson Shiara Davila-Morales said: "Evidence was found to be substantiated to one misdemeanour count."

If convicted of the offence, Michael could face up to a year in jail. He is currently on bail.

The 50 year old has denied Kate's claims and accused her of lying, faking her injuries and attacking him.

He said: "I didn't touch her. I didn't do a damn thing to her.

"When we got back to the house, she was in the bedroom and I was cooking dinner when she started screaming. She was yelling 'What the f**k is this? You're a piece of s**t. Who is Maryann Mancuso?' and that is a friend of mine."
